I picked up a copy of SHOOTING WAR today. Brilliant, funny, disturbing, beautiful. Pick it up as soon as you can.

What the fuck? Are people actually doing this?...
College Roommate: My [prestigious employer] just asked for PROOF of my SAT scores.
Me: No way. NOW??
College Roommate: Yeah.
Me: Well, I guess that's good. You got a perfect score.
College Roommate: When I was SEVENTEEN!!
Me: It does seem a little, uh ... irrelevant at this point, doesn't it? Although I liked my score so much that I put it on my resume for a solid year after college graduation. So I guess I shouldn't talk.

“And yes, in the movie, the Cloverfield monster bites off some fucking heads....”
–  Ain’t It Cool News review of CLOVERFIELD. It’s been a while since I’ve read AICN - this is part of the reason why - but every now and again, they make a good case for hyperbole. (Via NYMag.com)

“Westbrook’s decision, solely in fantasy football terms, influenced 200,000...”
– via Randball. More Fantasy Football dorkness. If you didn’t know: Brian Westbrook - a Running Back for the Philadelphia Eagles - gave everyone a brilliant lesson in pragmatism, math, and self-sacrifice yesterday when he took a knee on the one-yard line while the Eagles were up 10-6 and had two...

Pitchfork names LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends"... →
Not to be like, “told y’all mafuckas” or anything, but I DID say this a few posts ago. And not that anybody should really trust Pitchfork too much. But..just sayin’….

White or Driver? White or Driver? WHITE OR...
No, seriously: I’m obsessing. Nobody I know cares about Fantasy Football. The people I do know who care are letting me know that I’m mildly obsessed. But if you had $400 and underdog bragging rights riding on this questions, you’d be obsessing over it, too. So: to any mild spoirts fans, who do I start in a PPR-league? Driver or White?

“Murphy sings it like he’s found an Ecstasy tablet in an old sport coat,...”
– On LCD Soundsystem’s “All My Friends,” my favorite song of this year. From this month’s GQ feature on the Best in Music 2007 - yes, another list. There are five or six writers listed on the feature. There’s purple prose, and then there’s this. Whoever wrote that...

David Karp: remember this moment.  If you have no idea what this is about, it started at Gawker. They created a monster.

Julia Allison and Jakob Lodwick Are Facinating...
Listen: we’re going to go out on a limb here and say that we respect Julia Allison and Jakob Lodwick for doing what they’ve both (individually) done. Jakob has made being an entrepreneur - to whatever extent - look easy (when in fact, it clearly isn’t) and Julia has made a science out of her path to success. Both are clearly smart, personable, intelligent people whose company we...

Aggregating Gawker Fallout
Okay. So I started to do this just for me - to see and read - what the fallout was from the both Emily and Choire leaving Gawker on Friday afternoon. What I grabbed was this: Andrew Krucoff took an abormaly civil path from what tends to be his typically biting, belligerent jibes at Gawker that really came around once Coen and Oxfeld left last year. Emily quickly chirped in with her only...
