“Snark?” What is this, 2003?

youngmanhattanite: Apologize? I’m trying to save him from endless springing for Bud Lights and awkwardly crashing dirt dull media parties. Seeing Dana twice a year really doesn’t make up for that. I’m working in theater, I’m straight, and I fucking hate musicals. I come built with an aversion to industry gatherings. Besides, isn’t gushing over Bernadete Peters and Sloane...

YM Thinks GM Snark Is In Low Supply, Uses Me as...
youngmanhattanite: I don’t know what looks worst here: that people don’t identify Gridskipper as GM blog; that no one cares that much about Mohney anymore, or that the quality of GM related snark is so abysmally low. I expect this quality of writing from someone who is willing to admit they ‘follow’ us. Clearly in the worst sense. Well…can’t exactly argue with them. Also,...

This is kind of like the watered-down version of Denton hiring Andrew Krucoff to blog for him again. Anyway: any boss you can call a “big-headed faggot prick” that returns you to his employ might appear to be a decent human being. A better intuition feels that this only makes Denton a shadier-than-shady motherfucker. To get into the mood of things, odds on Denton rehiring former staff...

YM are now attempting to get people to unfollow them by noting the more unflattering facets of said followers Tumblrs being assholes. Julia Allison, David Karp, New York Times: Video.
Julia Allison gets the inevitable New York Times meme comparing her to Carrie Bradshaw. The release of this movie is going to put Allison in the spotlight, as this comparison is utterly and totally unavoidable. Not that it’s a terrible thing; it makes it easier for me to describe her to people who generally have no idea what I’m talking about when I talk about things like this (myself...

Landmarc at the Time Warner Center: one of the saltiest, slowest, worst meals I’ve ever had in New York. Everything we ate was underwhelming. We saw our waiter maybe three times. Only thing to be said for that place is its wine list, which is incredible. Everything else sucked. Despite that and the dissapointment of Stop-Loss, it was still a pretty solid night.
Mar 29th
Stop-Loss could have stopped after the first hour.
It’s too bad; I really wanted to like it. First act was spectacular, Ryan Phillipe was solid, Joseph Gordon-Leavitt was awesome, Victor Rasuk gets a great role (and made me want to go back and watch Raising Victor Vargas yet again…”Dimes, son!”), and even Channing Tatum didn’t phone it in. Also, for a film on the Iraq war, there’s no question that it was...

The Best Muxtape YET!  →
davidcho: pavblog: this is the funniest thing I’ve seen on the internet today. This is the best muxtape in the entire world. Oh, man. Kind of insidery but disturbingly accurate and mostly hysterical. The only thing it’s missing is an Apes & Androids song. Seriously.

The Brooklyn Flea is coming to Fort Greene →
File Under: things to be excited about. My former hood*, now Leah’s, is getting a flea market. They already have a farmer’s market. It looks like Sesame Street. It has some of the best brunch in New York. It has BAM. And it actually has some diversity to it. Fort Greene is the motherfucking hotness. Counting Crows are a band a significant portion of the people I know will (unfairly) recoil at if you tell them you like love them. Maybe it’s Adam Duritz. Maybe it’s the hair, or the Olsen. Maybe it’s “Mr. Jones.” Maybe it’s just that hipsterism doesn’t allow for anything other than now and new to be anything but dated and passe. Which, actually, I...

March of the Penguins
I really have a special place for this theme. It’s smart, cute, etc. My problems: distinguishing between posts is harder than it looks. The color scheme is boring. The posts aren’t dated. There isn’t a decent sidebar or “about me” place for a header (when you put it in the title bubble, it looks rediculous). Long quotes look ugly in quote posts because of the huge...

– Politico’s Jim Vandehei and Mike Allen filed a beauty of a piece on the Elephant in the Room of 2008 Democratic Primary: that Clinton just won’t win. Furthermore, if Clinton did win, it would take an event so extreme as to disenfranchise a huge portion of America from our political...

STINGRAY JUMPS INTO BOAT, KNOCKS WOMAN DEAD. →
The universe is inventing new ways to kill us. Talk about getting knocked the fuck out. Jesus. What’s scary here isn’t this stingray arbitrarily jumping out of the water and knocking into this woman; it’s that, as the story notes, a guy got a four-foot barb in his chest via stingray and lived, while said stingray knockee did not. The forces of irony are hard at work.

Daydreaming of vaction: Sedona, Arizona →
Okay, I know: it’s a five-star spa resort with a 9 AM “duck feeding” every morning. That being said: 1. I don’t have to stay at L’Auberge if I go. I could go camping there…I could do it bare-bones with a truck, a tarp, and a tent. And it would still be nice. 2. Where the fuck else in Arizona do people people who don’t golf, aren’t dying of old age,...

Things That Suck: Facebook's New NCAA/CBS Brackets
Facebook’s new NCAA Bracket platform, which integrates the CBS Bracket Challenge into Facebook. Last year, they (Facebook) had their own unqiue NCAA Bracket Challenge platform - they took the money from CBS and ran with it, thus giving us (the users) a shoddy, untested product that (A) doesn’t work well and (B) destroyed the year-to-year bracket system we had going previously. I had 7...

Question of the Day:
djdescribeseternity: While finishing up my tournament bracket this morning, I came back to an annual universal question: Why do people hate Duke? (By the way, I’m saying this as a longtime Dukie fan back to the Grant Hill, C. Parks, B. Hurley, J. Capel, Wojo, and Chris Collins days). Go ahead, spew your venom. For me?
