Things I Am No Doubt Proud Of

Fucking FINALLY something like this has run on Gawker.
Let’s cut the shit people, there is reason for this. I have a lot of Gawker-employed friends to whom I mean no offense, but to be frank: I’m sick of reading about bloggers reporting from J-School to “reveal” what can be found in any syllabus.
You’re right about Cajun, and you’re right about hearing from a diverse...

I have lived with this column for a week or so now as we went through the process of revision, so I’m jealous of those of you who will be coming to it for the first time. And for several subsequent times, because it is jam-packed with awesomeness and you are sure to miss some on the initial go-round. Also, there is a video.

Assessment: Eater v. Bruni
Jealousy factor aside, Eater’s interview with Bruni is great, no question. It might be the best one, period - they’re both fans and scholars of Bruni - and it might also be, in the pantheon of Bruni talking to his admirers, the most overlooked one.
But this was my favorite part. It’s actually Lock who gets the best line:
LS: Monkey Bar too, right? BRUNI: Monkey Bar too. To...
What's more insulting?
A) Accusations that you - forever a Token Jew until moving to New York - are anti-Semitic?
or
B) Accusations that you’ve been to Tenjune?

I'M GUEST RAMBLING FOR KATIE!
ninety9:
katiebakes:
Me (feeling Katie’s forehead): no you don’t have a fever. Katie: my resting temperature is below 98.6 so it’s probably not accurate to compare to a normal forehead. Katie is recovering from a possible food-born illness so I asked if I could guest Ramble! She said yes! -Dave

Categorically, it was more like 2006. But I think I hit him up for cab money from the airport.
OH. Also.
Today is the 100th day after May 9th, which was my first day writing for Gwkr.
Technicaly, I haven’t had a “weekend” day off since May 2nd, which was the day after my first date with Natalie. Literally, the last thing I did on a weekend off: get a girlfriend.
In those hundred days, I’ve taken two half days to:
Move apartments. This was sweaty, but quick.
Fly a red-eye...
Bobert Pattinson comforted his co-star, Camilla Belle, after one of the Jonas...
– Sometimes, I look back, and realize that it’s just a terrible idea to write these things as my first post of the day. Like, terrible idea.
There are two clashing worldviews. There is my view, that a human being is in...

los angeles in motion. so incredible.
Maybe this is old, but Angelinos, this is wonderful. Truly.
LA has a strange kind of beauty that you often have to look hard (or contextualize hard) to find. It’s not readily evident. But when you find it, the revelation that Los Angeles - a city often written off as too big, too sprawling, too superficial - is one of...
Funny things: I was there literally long enough for Rachel to take this photo. “I’m going to call this Mad Fek,” she noted from her corner booth. I was standing. She was right: that’s what I look like right before I get the fuck out of dodge. The Gates might have the most apropos name of any bar in New York: it’s the entryway to the second circle of the Inferno;...

Unexpectedly, Spiers old Gawker gem unleashed some misty-eyed nostalgia for blog 1.0 in me. Those were the days…
…So what remains? The seemingly unlimited possibilities created by watching unconnected kids conquer new terrain—as you try to catch up; all the while saying to yourself, “I can do that too.” In that light, it all was pretty cool.

1) @boyfriend, sick of looking at the [rotten] fruits of my crappy CSS repertoire, redesigned ElizabethSpiers.com to match my [also @boyfriend designed] biz cards. Now I don’t have to feel myself age as the site loads.
Checked out the new iteration of Spiers’ site, and found this in the fawning 2003 MediaBistro profile of her (uh, and yes: you all...
And then there was that thing.
My Status Galley Book Club review yesterday ran yesterday at Gwkr, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should! It’s a fun read, it’s graded, it’s scandalous, and I had a good time doing it. Notably, though, nobody gives a shit, because it’s Twitter. Check the weekend numbers for yourself.

Howdy, all!
I’m Foster, an assistant editor here at BlackBook, where I work on our guides, our magazine, and our website. For the last few months, the BlackBook Tumblr’s been a shameful little robot puking RSS links all over your dashboard. No more! Today is the day we stand up to the oppression of the ramen-making, knife-fighting, linkpuking robots and begin to...

Basically, yes [AT LEAST LINK TO IT DICKFACE]. Except I’m not talking about the time you gave me a foot massage, or quitting. Though the inevitable canning or embargo on rubbing my feet are surely somewhere on the horizon.
Meant to post this last night (am I breaking my own 12PM rule if there’re no photos?), but a “nice” to Blakeley and Del and Kidder. The Delta House of Gawker Media held a beer pong tournament on the roof that was a good time, but even nicer, was filled with employed media and tech people. It made me delusional for a second that people can still make money in this business. That...
Who Made Nick Douglas' Twitter Book? (Answer:...
Ok! The Official Twitter Book made by 2.0 Leprochaun Nick Douglas made its way to me today. And I’m going to spoil it this weekend because quite frankly I’m not crazy about Twitter and also, I love spoiling books (HARRY POTTER IS A HEMAPHRODITE LIKE LADY GAGS, BTW).
You probably know some of the following people, who made their way into The Official Twitter Book. Watch as the world...
