OWS’s Hipster Cop Would Prefer If You Called Him “The Gentleman Officer”
We tracked down the fashionable detective who’s essentially neutering more important media coverage of Occupy Wall Street with his meticulously disheveled locks and wry smile. He’s just too damn fun to resist.
GQ: How would you describe your style?
Rick Lee: I describe it as “traditional English country.” I love traditional English country clothes.Wait but, let’s resist! Or at least be a little more explicit what we mean when we say “neutering more important coverage.” Like that this man works for a municipal body that is, right now, stretching the meaning the Constitution in order to use secretive CIA surveillance tactics on our Muslim neighbors, for example. So the fact that Community Affairs Detective Rick Lee is being trotted out in front of GQ and The New York Times to talk about Ralph Lauren and Radiohead while the NYPD simultaneously undermines the free press by flouting the state law that requires it to make its records available to the public is pernicious, at best.
Pernicious, but totally clickable. Come on man, just tell us the truth: Warby Parkers?
