The performance of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Maps," with [dapper Mashable exec Pete] Cashmore on vocals and [eccentric Vimeo founder Jakob] Lodwick on guitar, took place at an Internet Week New York party thrown by video studio Next New Networks and blog platform Tumblr. →
That was the last time I went to an Internet party.
You haven’t missed much. Now it’s all people with made-up names (David Shapiro, Carles) or names that sound made-up (Foster Kamer, Tao Lin) plus some old-timers with already dubious names (Lockhart Steele, Michael Bloomberg, Rex Sorgatz) lip-syncing to underground sensations (Odd Future, Taylor Swift) to celebrate the loss of vowels (Bnter, Grindr) or the addition of vowels (Zaarly, Nestio) or weird-looking words (Yippit, Artsicle, Fashism) but with lots more girls (Small Girls, Change The Ratio, Raise Cache) whose every detail is chronicled the next day by the new slideshow generators (Biz Insider, Random Night Out, Tumblr) and sensationalistic tabloids (Betabeat, Young Manhattanite).
All Rex Everything.
